Khayal - The Vision AND THE EMIRATI DREAM

Khayal is the trade name of a 100% foreign owned Emirati Perfumery House based in Dubai, dedicated to the creation of high concentration, luxury, and exclusive fragrances for women and men, traditionally crafted by experienced perfumers with the finest ingredients from around the world.

Who has ever visited this place without being mesmerized by its beauty, luxury, ultramodern architecture, man-made islands, picturesque beaches, dessert landscapes and lively lifestyle, and without having the feeling that any wish can be achieved? This is the land where our Khayal story began.

This glamourous place has become one of the most prosperous and attractive cities of the world being the new hotspot for international celebrities. The most fascinating thing about United Arab Emirates is that it is home to more than 200 nationalities that have brought with them their unique style, strengths, and flavors. Almost 90% of its population are citizens of other countries, an astonishing assemblage of expats representing all corners of the world. A geographical intersection among Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, UAE is one of the most culturally diverse places on the planet.

The acceptance of diversity of cultures made everyone believe in the Emirati dream. And so did we…

A BLEND OF EAST AND WEST CRAFTED THROUGH THE ART OF PERFUMERY

After discovering, learning, and falling in love with the Middle Eastern culture, Dubai felt as the new ‘American dream’. A city built through vision and hard work, a place in continuous development and growth. We soon came to uncover the local production resources this place had to offer when it comes to perfumery and the mesmerizing process behind each creation.

Our vision shortly translated into launching an exclusive Oriental Perfumery House with a Mediterranean touch that perfectly reflects the Emirati cultural mix and the local traditional craftsmanship heritage.

We wanted a perfect cultural blend reflected through our perfumes, the strongness and sensuality of the Oriental essential oils combined with the freshness of the Mediterranean scents.

The Emirati perfumery is rooted in ritual, richness, and the sacred. In cultures across the Middle East, and Asia, fragrance has long held spiritual and symbolic meaning. Notes such as oud, sandalwood, amber, rose, saffron, and incense are portals to memory, connection and reverence. Scents are worn close to skin, layered through oils and attars, and experienced as deeply personal expressions of being. The East prizes longevity, warmth, and sensuality, A single drop of a pure oud oil or of amber attar can linger for hours, evolving slowly and intimately. These scents tell stories – ancient, smoky, mysterious.

In contrast, Western perfumery developed through artistry and elegance. It became an accessory of style and self-expression. The Western pyramid of top, heart, and base notes creates dynamic fragrances that evolve over time – often starting with bright citruses or herbs, moving into florals, and settling into musk or woods. Ingredients like bergamot, iris, vetiver, vanilla, and lavender characterize this tradition – clean, expressive, often minimalist in design.

Perfumery is more than scent – it is storytelling without words, a sensory bridge between cultures, memories, and emotions. In the modern fragrance world, few concepts are as captivating as the blend of East and West. This fusion, crafted with care and artistry, reflects not only the convergence of ingredients but also the meeting of philosophies, traditions, and identities. When Eastern depth meets Western structure, the result is an olfactory harmony that speaks to a truly global soul.

When East meets West in perfumery, something extraordinary happens. The structure of the West elevates the intensity of the East; the richness of Eastern notes gives soul to Western composition. A fragrance might open with Japanese yuzu or Italian bergamot, dive into a heart of Damask rose and cinnamon, and settle into a base of Laotian oud and French tonka bean.

The blend is more than just a formula – it’s a cultural conversation. It’s the smokiness of cigar tobacco wrapped in Middle Eastern amber, kissed by the brightness of pineapple and pepper, and grounded in cedarwood and sandalwood. Opulent yet refined. Old world meets new. Traditional meets modern.

THE MIDDLE EASTERN PERFUMERY CULTURE AND HERITAGE

The Emirati perfume history is rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the UAE. For centuries, this country has played a pivotal role in the creation and preservation of fragrances.

These skilled artisans meticulously blend aromatic ingredients such as oud, rose and saffron to create unique scents.

Today Emirati perfumes are renowned worldwide, representing the essence of Arabic luxury and elegance.

Dedicated to high quality and traditional craftsmanship, decades of perfumery history and expertise were encapsulated into our exclusive formulas composed by experienced Eastern and Western perfumers.

In an increasingly interconnected world, the boundaries between cultures are being reshaped, through collaboration, creativity and shared artistry. Among the most evocative and sensual expressions of this cultural symbiosis is the world of perfumery – an olfactory language that transcends borders.

We produce extremely concentrated fragrances using rare essences and a high percentage of natural ingredients.

Our extracts are a blend of Oriental and Mediterranean essential oils resulting in unique products that cover a wider variety of notes than mass-market or designer perfumes and have a complex and longer lasting sillage.

The blend of Eastern and Western traditions in fragrance crafting represents more than just a fusion of ingredients; it is a meeting of philosophies, histories, and rituals, creating something both timeless and visionary.

Formulated using a meticulous selection of fine ingredients, Khayal’s perfume extracts are masterfully produced in our United Arab Emirates factories.

Did You Know?

  • Contrary to what many people believe, the first perfumes didn’t originate in the western European countries, but in the Middle East.
  • Oriental perfumes are based on natural oil extracts that are highly concentrated (floral, oud, musk). As a result, oriental scents, from Gulf fragrances to Far Eastern territories such as China, India and South Asia, have a longer sillage than the modern western perfumes.
  • Oriental fragrances usually use exotic and unusual notes, including vanilla, cinnamon, orris, jasmine, orchid and orange blossom. For this reason, they often smell beautifully indulgent and luxurious while Mediterranean are mostly flowery and citrus fragrances.
  • Oriental perfumes are the result of a manual multi layering of attars that create a unique blend while western perfumes are mostly focusing on 3 notes, masterfully blended to create floral, fresh, spicy, and sweet fragrances.
  • Safe for the skin and crafted with traditional methods, oriental perfumes contain natural essential oils that may offer some aroma therapeutic benefits such as relaxation and mood enhancement.
